Golden Years Guidance: A Women in Leadership Panel

Join us for an empowering session presented by the Women in Leadership committee on "Navigating your Golden Years with Confidence." Our panel, featuring a dynamic discussion on "Aging with Confidence," will cover key aspects such as setting up senior care and planning for a successful retirement. Whether you're considering options for yourself, parents, or grandparents, or looking ahead to your own future, this event aims to provide valuable insights and strategies. Don't miss this opportunity to learn and engage with a community focused on facing the golden years with optimism and preparedness. $40++ | Two-course lunch buffet More information about our speakers... Irene Brooks is a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree holder, and a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) deeply committed to enhancing the quality of life for seniors and their families. As the founder of No Place Like Home Senior Services, Irene leverages her extensive experience to provide compassionate support, expert resources, and tailored senior care consultations. With a focus on helping families navigate the complexities of aging, Irene specializes in guiding them through crucial decisions about aging in place, at-home services placement assistance, and other essential resources. Her expertise in dementia care allows her to work skillfully with clients and families affected by this challenging condition, ensuring they receive the understanding and care they need. Kristen Mackintosh, born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, is an Elder Law and Estate Planning Attorney based in Garner, North Carolina. Kristen has been a practicing Attorney since 1996. She was licensed in Ohio in 1996, and in North Carolina in 2013 after moving back home. Kristen started her own law practice because she wanted to change how estate planning was done. She is known as The Happy Lawyer for a reason – she brings warmth, compassion and positivity to her clients. There are no draft or meeting limits here. Kristen will take as much time as her clients need to get them a well-drafted, individualized plan just for them. And, most importantly, she takes the time to educate her clients on exactly what they are signing and why they need their particular documents. With her personal experience and a smile, Kristen guides her clients in making the estate planning and elder law practice not so scary. Paige Van Lenten graduated with a BS in Management from Georgia Tech with a focus in Marketing and Leadership, and brings over 20 years of relationship building and leadership to Always Best Care. She specializes in senior placement, and by listening to the families' needs and specific situations, she will reduce their stress by helping find the ideal senior living option for our clients. Paige has lived in Raleigh for over 30 years with her husband Dave and two children, Allison and Anderson. She held Administrative leadership roles in the utility industry before staying home with her children for over 15 years. During that time, she served the community in many volunteer leadership roles with the Junior League of Raleigh, her children's school PTA and her church. Our Moderator, Susan Beavers' journey into the insurance industry is marked by resilience and a profound commitment to helping others navigate life's uncertainties. With a robust background of 24 years in the retail sector, Susan faced a significant turning point when downsizing prompted her to reevaluate her life trajectory. It was during this pivotal moment that she courageously took a leap of faith to embark on a new path – establishing herself as a Licensed Agent for USHEALTH Advisors and founding "Insurance with the Beaves."

Read to Lead Book Club

Join Book Club, Read to Lead! Each month a book on leadership, career or other professional development topic will be read and discussed. This month we are reading: Book:The Two BUT Rule" by John Wolpert Join Book Club, Read to Lead! Each month a book on leadership, career or other professional development topic will be read and discussed! Backed by clinical research and illustrated with compelling case studies, Dr. Caroline Leaf provides a scientifically proven five-step plan to find and eliminate the root of anxiety, depression, and intrusive thoughts in your life so you can experience dramatically improved mental and physical health. In just 21 days, you can start to clean up your mental mess and be on the road to wholeness, peace, and happiness. After her first two weeks observing the problems at DecisionTech, Kathryn Petersen, its new CEO, had more than a few moments when she wondered if she should have taken the job. But Kathryn knew there was little chance she would have turned it down. After all, retirement had made her antsy, and nothing excited her more than a challenge. What she could not have known when she accepted the job, however, was just how dysfunctional her team was, and how team members would challenge her in ways that no one ever had before.
