"Woman in Flight" Donnafugata Wine Dinner September 26th | 6:30 PM Donnafugata, translated as “Woman in Flight” refers to the history of Queen Maria Carolina, wife of Ferdinand IV of Bourbon, who in the early 1000s, fled Naples to escape Napoleons troops and sought refuge in the part of Sicily where this winery’s vineyards now stand. Donnafugata was established in 1983 by Giacomo and Gabriella Rallo, both hailing from winemaking families going back several centuries. Gabriella’s daughter and CEO of Donnafugata blures the lines between wine, style, art and Italian music. The wines have a strong Mediterranean personality, and serve as ambassadors of Sicilian colors, aromas and culture.
