FitStart: What to expect and best practices 

Welcome to The Alexandria Fitness Center! We’re so happy to be a part of your fitness, health, and wellness journey. As with any journey, to get where you want to go, we need to determine where you are beginning.  

You will meet with one of our Certified Personal Trainers. During your 60-minute session, your trainer will speak to you about your goals, concerns (including injuries), and overall wellness as well as conduct body composition test, a posture screen, and squat assessment. To get the most from your time with the Trainer, prior to your appointment, please take a few minutes to prepare.  

1. Download the eVolt Active app for Apple or Android. Complete your free member account. The eVolt uses cloud-based storage so your information always travels with you! 

1. Complete the PAR-Q. 

In preparation for the body composition test the folks at eVolt recommend conducting the test prior to exercise or eating and arriving hydrated. Avoid caffeine and alcohol 24 hours prior to testing. 

Be sure to dress for movement! Because the software for the posture screen and squat assessment uses photographs and visible body data points, it is best to wear either shorts and a tank top or form-fitting clothing.
